Sicily

Sicily is a rich and colourful island of dramatic beauty, enjoying early springs and long autumns making it an ideal island to explore.  There is a wealth of Greek, Roman, Norman and Arabic monuments to discover and the hill towns perched precariously between the volcanic mountains, have a character all of their own.

Taormina has a well preserved Greco-Roman amphitheatre, great views of the coast and is worth a visit along with Mount Etna one of the worlds most famous and active volcanoes.

The landscape of Sicily is rich and diverse, ranging from picturesque coastal resorts with beautiful beaches to the dramatic slopes of Mount Etna; Sicily's most striking landmark.  Semi-tropical plants and flowers flourish here and during the spring the spectacular mountain slopes are carpeted with beautiful wild flowers.

Sicilian cuisine is a mix of Arab and traditional Italian influences, with richly flavoured seafood and pasta dishes.  Sicilian desserts are famous and include Cassata (ice cream cake) and Granita (ice flavoured with coffee or lemon).
