Discover the Istrian Peninsula, and experience all the delights of a holiday by the warm mediterranean sea. Porec is a town rich in history in a wonderfully unspoilt location.  Its ancient promenade is backed by stout houses and cobbled streets, which surround its striking Venetian bell tower. Along the main harbour,  fishing boats and larger day boats offer the attractions of a day at sea.

Food & Drink

Croatian food is made using fresh and seasonal ingredients ensuring that it is pretty delicious but healthy too, and because all the ingredients are produced locally it is relatively inexpensive. Along the coastal region, the food is typically Mediterranean using lots of olive oil, garlic, herbs and the freshest fish and seafood there is. If you're a fan, the scampi and calamari is probably some of the best you'll ever taste so get stuck in. You will also find fish soup, fish stew, seafood risotto and much more, but if its meat you're after you will find more than enough to wet your appetite. Pasta also features on every menu and the more often than not a dish which is described as a starter will more than suffice as a main course.

Shopping

Traditional handicrafts like embroidery, woodcarvings and ceramics make good souvenirs, you'll be amazed by all the shopping opportunities that confront you in this town. Most shops are closed on a sunday. Popular buys in Croatia are items such as paintings of Croatia scenes by the local artists, also lavender based gifts such as lavender oil are popular and you don't need to look far to find a wealth of lace goods, which make an excellent and light present to take home.
