Norwich Airport offers flights to Aberdeen throughout the whole year flying from Sunday to Friday. Aberdeen has a surprisingly mild temperature for its northerly location making it an ideal base to explore the lowlands and highlands of Scotland alike. During the summer, the temperature for the average warmest month is around 19ºC with average lows during the coldest month being around 1ºC.
The area around Aberdeen is studded with amazing opportunities for the traveller to enjoy, as well as having the city to explore itself. There are over 50 golf courses in the area with two of the world’s oldest courses located nearby.
Scotland is famous for its Whisky and Aberdeenshire has several active distilleries where the traveller can visit and sample a taste, however arguably the most beautiful distillery in Scotland, famous for its production of Chivas Regal whisky is the Strathisla Distillery which is just an hour away from Aberdeen.
Aberdeenshire has more castles per acre than anywhere else in the United Kingdom with some 300 castles. There are countless famous castles amongst the 300 such as Slains castle where it is said that Bram Stoker conceived Dracula. There is Craigievar the seven-storey castle with its pink walls said to be the prototype for Walt Disney’s castle which is featured at the start of most Disney films, however no castle in Aberdeenshire is as famous as Balmoral castle which remains the summer residence of the Royal Family. When the Royal family are not in residence the traveller can visit the grounds or even parts of the castle.
There are plenty more things to do when you are staying in Aberdeenshire, how about a visit to the Aberdeen Highland games, or if you prefer your activities in the colder climes then visit the two purposes built ski resorts Glenshee with 36 runs and a snow sport school and Lecht 2090. You can try skiing and snowboarding at either resort and with equipment and clothing hire available at Lecht 2090 on the day you don’t have to worry about anything.
