Rhodes is a Greek Island and the largest of the Dodecanese Islands that sits in the Mediterranean Sea not far from the coast of Turkey.

Rhodes is blessed with a wonderful climate, very mild winters and very warm summers and it is because of this it has been a very popular destination for many an age and will continue to be so. The temperature ranges from May to October on average are 20ºC to 27ºC. However, the temperatures often reach into the low 30’sºC and on occasion has reached as high as 41ºC.

As you would expect for an island in the Mediterranean Sea the water temperatures during the same period May to October ranges from 20ºC to 27ºC.

Rhodes is steeped in history and it is evident throughout the island but no place as much as the historical sites of the Acroplis of Lindos. This wonderfully preserved site allows the traveller to experience the amazing architecture that was being built in ancient Greece and the site is dated from about 200BC. There are many buildings that have survived and some places of worship in the site are a must if you visit the site.

Rhodes has miles upon miles of beautiful sandy beaches to rest and relax upon which are well appointed and have good amenities. The more popular beaches have some great cafes, nearby. If you want to spend some time on or in the water then why not try one of the many water sport activities that are offered from many different water sports venues. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out and trying something for the first time or you are seasoned and experienced in the sport, the centres cater for all and hire of equipment can be completed at the centres. You can try your hand at para-sailing, jet skiing, water skiing, snorkelling or scuba diving. You can even hire small motor boats for set periods of time and go exploring yourself.

With all this on offer you may miss out on some of the other things to try such as learning to make the local dishes with cookery classes, then when you sit down in the evening you can taste those dishes knowing you will soon be showing off to your friends your new-found skills.
